Munich-based Jazz-piano-player and vibraphonist Tizian Jost has worked in the field of Jazz music and contemporary styles for over 30 years now. Originally a classical trained musician from a family of music enthusiasts he discovered Jazz in his school days when he was around fourteen.
After having moved to Munich 1985 when he was 19 years old, he quickly became an important member of the German Jazz scene. He worked together with such significant and famous artists as Mark Murphy, Gunther Klatt, Ronnie Burrage, Dusko Goykovich, Rick Margitza, Alvin Queen, Ed Schuller, Erivelton Silva, Raul de Souza and many more.
Beside from being a pianist with strong roots in the Jazz tradition he is also a known specialist for Brazilian music, having worked professionally in Brazil and Europe in this area. His work is documented on more than 50 recordings which were published worldwide. See the detailed discography on the website.
At the moment Tizian Jost focuses on two main projects: playing the Vibraphon with the band JPEK in the format of the MJQ, presenting a repertoire dedicated to the genius pianist George Shearing. Besides from being a concert artist, Tizian Jost is also a university teacher at the University of Music And Performing Arts, Munich where he is the professor for the Jazz piano class.
